Broncogard Syrup has been prescribed for relieving cough associated with upper respiratory tract infection, allergy, asthma, & cough due to passive smoking. Being beta-2 adrenergic agent, it increases mucociliary clearance and suppression of anti-allergic effects. This syrup also possesses expectorant property and stimulates serous cells of tonsils. It has been formulated using terbutaline sulphate, guaiphenesin, menthol, & bromhexine as active compounds. Broncogard Syrup is known to promote easy breathing by increasing output from GI system’s secretory glands. It also raises levels of cAMP which results in relaxation of bronchial smooth muscles. Due to presence of menthol, this syrup exerts cooling sensation and alleviates irritation in gut.
